Mission 2: ECO mission
The Ecosystems mission is developed for learning about topics at the cross-section of biology and ecology: i) influence of the concentration of nutrients on primary production, ii) influences of light on the level of photosynthesis, iii) relations between trophic levels in an ecosystem, and iv) the concept of pH and the changes of pH in water bodies. The selected topics enable students to discover real life problems that appear in different areas of Europe. The artifacts that students develop as final products are a concept map about relations in an ecosystem and a video report that illustrates the inquiry processes that they have applied. ELOs that need to be created during the learning process are research questions and hypotheses, experiment plans, data sets from mobile devices measuring water quality, dynamic models, and inferences from data.
